Quick Access

The Tribe's Natural Resources Division includes the Environmental, Fisheries, and Wildlife Programs. The Environmental Program provides regulatory services related to the environment, including air and water quality monitoring and protection. The Fisheries and Wildlife Programs provide biological services for the Tribe’s hunting, fishing and gathering reserved rights under the 1836 Treaty of Washington. All three Programs work together under the umbrella of the Division on coordinated tribal-led stewardship.

The Environmental Program serves as the Sault Tribe's environmental regulatory program lead in monitoring and protecting air, water, land and related issues.

The Fisheries Program serves as the Sault Tribe's biological program lead in the implementation of the Consent Decree for Great Lakes treaty fishing and the fishery portion of the 2007 Inland Decree.

The Wildlife Program serves as Sault Tribe’s biological program in the non-fishing implementation of 2007 Inland Consent Decree and the 2006 Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Forest Service.
