SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Sault Tribe Chairman Joe McCoy and the Board of Directors announce the scheduling of Legislative Sessions of the Tribal Board of Directors on selected Wednesdays each month, initially for the months of February and March. The schedule will be forthcoming in the next issue of the Sault Tribe’s newspaper, Win Awenen Nisitotung, and will be posted on the Intranet and Sault Tribe’s Web site, www.saulttribe.com, in the near future.
The legislative sessions will provide the board of directors a dedicated time to review information submitted by Membership Services divisions, Internal Services, enterprises and casinos. Topics will include quarterly report presentations, strategic plan reviews, business plan reviews, tribal code updates and reviews, personnel policy reviews and so forth. The legislative sessions will be open to the membership.
The first legislative session will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Kewadin Casinos Convention Center in Sault Ste. Marie. The agenda includes review of the final draft strategic plans for Sault Tribe’s Membership Services. Tribal staff have been working on the strategic planning process since the enactment of Board of Directors Resolution 2007-146 in November 2007. A lot of time and effort has been put into the development of these plans by administration and Membership Services team members, utilizing their diverse knowledge, expertise and experience.
We hope to see participation from our membership at these sessions. Please contact Joanne Carr at (906) 635-6050 with any questions.
